Kentucky Derby

Joey works as a dispatcher at Valley Medical Transportation, and he was given two tickets to a benefit for Food Link at the Visalia Country Club yesterday, to watch the Kentucky Derby.  Their Christmas party was also at the country club, and we had a lot of fun, so I was excited.

I was especially excited by the expression "fancy hat contest" on the ticket :)

Like millions of women I'm sure, I am obsessed with Kate Middleton.  She's so pretty and poised, and she wears such great hats.  I scoured the internet for pictures of her and found several with these beautiful fascinators of flowers and feathers in her hair.  I thought it would be fun and different to wear one of those instead of a big straw hat, so with ample help from my sister in law Sherry, I made one.

It was a hit!  I got lots of compliments and felt very pretty.

Unfortunately, I also felt very sick.  I've been battling some ear and throat pain for a few weeks, and my antibiotics haven't quite caught up with me yet.  So we didn't stay long.

While we were there, I turned to my Joey and remarked that one of the things I like most about being married is always having someone to do stuff with, like living with your best friend.  I do love that.

And him.  Doesn't he look wonderful in his picture?

Oh, and I won $10,000 fake dollars on the races.  Yee-haw!

I Heart Shutterfly

As you can see below, I've been working on some projects for our anniversary.

I heart Shutterfly.  And this blog, for that matter, for the same reason.

I cannot abide scrapbooking.  All that finicky cutting out of tiny pieces of paper just highlights my flaws.

But, I love my Joey and our life together, and I love taking photographs to document that life.  So, I'm a lucky duck to live in a time where it is EASY to digitally do all that arranging.  Seriously, I heart Shutterfly!

Welcome

This is us.

Next month is our 2 year anniversary.  Some days I find it amazing that it has been so long and other days I cannot believe it has only been a few years.

We'll see how this blog goes.  I had one in the past, and kinda jumped ship for Facebook, but now I think it might be time to have a space like this, where I can post pictures and keep people updated in a less heated environment.

So, no politics or religion (or at least to a minimum), just pictures and stories of our life together.

Happy Saturday!
